Mixer showers with
manual and thermostatic control
MIRA Product selector guide
Manual or Thermostatic
shower?
Manual shower valves are
operated for temperature adjustment by moving the
temperature selector lever or dial until the required
output mix is achieved. However, should the conditions
of the incoming supplies alter (be this through pressure
or temperature) the output temperature can change which
can occasion a sharp surprise to the occupant of the
shower. A decent thermostatic
shower valve will deliver a blend of hot and cold water
to your showerhead maintaining an output temperature within +/- 1 degree of your dial
setting.
Thermostatic shower valves are therefore
regarded as essential
on mains pressure and
combination boiler systems where
water temperature and pressure can vary greatly
manifesting huge temperature swings at the showerhead
unless thermostatically stabilised.
Thermostatic control
should be considered essential wherever children,
elderly or infirm persons may use the shower and
reaction time to sudden temperature change may be
diminished.
